Toby Zayontz — Portfolio

I’m an electrical engineering graduate specialising in autonomous systems, with interests in embedded machine learning, signal processing and control. I completed my Master of Electrical Engineering at the University of Melbourne with distinction. My final year project with Christopher Loo, detailed below, was recognised with two awards: Best Project in Electrical and Electronic Engineering and the Airwallex Award for Social Impact through Innovation

I design neural architectures for constrained hardware and develop electronics for physical products. My experience spans model development and training, embedded software, circuit design and hardware integration

I’m especially interested in algorithm design and how mathematics and theory translate into physical systems through signal processing, control, optimisation, machine learning and reinforcement learning. I also enjoy the smaller design decisions that shape how a product feels to use, such as mapping an encoder’s ticks to changes in a lamp’s brightness

The selected projects below show my work, including the design decisions, implementation problems and testing involved in getting each system running
